CONSOLIDATION SERVICES

— QATAR, KSA & OMAN

Share the load, reduce the cost. Alfaline's consolidation service gives businesses a smarter, more affordable way to ship smaller cargo volumes across the Gulf.

What is a consolidation service, and how does it work?

A consolidation service — also known as groupage or LCL (Less than Container Load) — is a freight solution where multiple smaller shipments from different businesses are combined into a single container or truck for transport to a shared destination. Each business pays only for the space their cargo actually occupies, making consolidation significantly more affordable than booking a dedicated full container or truck when your volume doesn’t justify the expense.

Alfaline operates scheduled consolidation departures to Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and other GCC destinations, giving businesses access to reliable, regular freight departures without the cost of a full load.

Who benefits most from Alfaline's consolidation service?

Consolidation is the right solution for businesses that regularly ship cargo too large for courier services but too small to fill an entire container or truck. This includes:

  • Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) importing or exporting to GCC markets
  • Retailers and distributors receiving regular stock replenishments from regional suppliers
  • Manufacturers shipping components or finished goods to GCC buyers
  • Businesses with seasonal cargo peaks who need a cost-efficient freight option without long-term commitment
  • Startups and growing companies managing cash flow while scaling their import and export volumes

Which GCC routes does Alfaline offer consolidation services on?

Alfaline currently operates consolidation services on the following key GCC trade corridors:

  • Dubai (UAE) to Qatar (Doha): Regular scheduled departures — one of our busiest consolidation routes, managed through our Dubai entity Alfaroute Shipping and Transport LLC.
  • Qatar to Saudi Arabia (KSA): Scheduled groupage road freight via the Abu Samra border crossing to major KSA cities.
  • Qatar to Oman: Consolidation service to Muscat and other Omani destinations on a fixed schedule.
  • Other GCC destinations: Kuwait and Bahrain consolidation services available on request with agreed departure schedules.

What is the difference between consolidation (LCL) and FTL for road freight?

With consolidation (LCL), your cargo shares a truck or container with other shippers’ goods — you pay for only your portion of space. With FTL (Full Truckload), you book the entire truck exclusively for your cargo. Consolidation is more economical for smaller loads; FTL is faster, more direct, and better suited for large volumes, time-sensitive deliveries, or cargo that should not share space with other goods for safety or compliance reasons.

How does Alfaline protect different clients' cargo in a consolidated shipment?

All cargo within a consolidated shipment is individually packaged, labelled, and separated within the container or vehicle. Our operations team verifies that consolidation is appropriate for the cargo types being combined — ensuring no incompatible goods share space. Each consignment is tracked individually from pickup to delivery, and clients receive confirmation specific to their portion of the consolidated load.

What is the lead time for booking consolidation services with Alfaline?

To secure space on a scheduled consolidation departure, we recommend booking at least 3–5 days in advance of the planned departure date. Our team advises on the next available departure at the time of enquiry and confirms your booking with a written confirmation and estimated delivery schedule.
